My Favorite Things: September 2022

In 2002, I started PK with an email newsletter called “My Favorite Things”. I carried on for a few years but stopped because I just didn’t know what to do with it to grow it further.

To celebrate 20 years of PK, I’ve decided to bring back an abbreviated version of My Favorite Things by sharing five of my favorites for each month.

Let’s check out the things I loved this month!

(Note: None of these items are sponsored. These are truly things I’ve enjoyed this month.)

This Breakfast Recipe

Magical Breakfast Cream

Magical Breakfast Cream (from the French Women Don’t Get Fat Cookbook by Mireille Guiliano)

I understand the name of this book might be troublesome but it was published in 2010 before literally everything became offensive…so let’s show some grace.

I have been making this since 2010 but have recently become addicted to enjoying it every morning. It’s very filling and full of good proteins and healthy fats…plus it’s easy to make.

Pro Tip: Stir each ingredient thoroughly into the yogurt before you add the next one.

½ cup plain Greek yogurt
1 teaspoon of flaxseed oil
1-2 tablespoons of fresh squeezed lemon juice (about ½ a lemon)
1 teaspoon of honey (I love to add Florida Orange Blossom honey from Runamok.)
2 tablespoons of finely ground cereal with no sugar (I use Bob’s Red Mill Steel Cut Oats, uncooked. I love the texture it gives.)
2 teaspoons of finely ground walnuts

This Eye Gel

Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake-Up Eye Gel

Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake-Up Eye Gel ($6)

I can’t say enough about the glow-up this eye gel gives my under eyes…and I’ve tried a lot of skin care. It’s remarkable. (Check out my IG @pksgiftcloset for a show and tell.)

This Bra

Target All In Motion Sports Bra

All in Motion Women’s Racerback Sports Bra ($30)

All of a sudden, every bra I’ve ever bought is incredibly uncomfortable. It’s been a nightmare. I just happened to randomly pick up one of these because I loved the color (green). Lo and behold, this is THE most comfortable and supportive bra I’ve worn in a long time. I have it in every color. It’s a miracle, just trust me.

This 80s Throwback

Trapper Keeper

Trapper Keeper ($15)

Gen Xers, what was more fun than shopping for school supplies back in the 80s? Ok, yes, the Scholastic Book Fair but other than that, nothing! My 13-year-old self jumped for joy when I saw OG Trapper Keepers on the shelf and you know I had to get one. What am I going to put in it? I don’t know…but it makes me happy and that’s all I care about for now!

This Gift

Jiggy x PK Ribbon Puzzle

Jiggy x PK Ribbon Puzzle ($39.99)

Am I dreaming that my very first collaboration is a jigsaw puzzle? And with a fabulous company like Jiggy? I can't believe this is real! I thought a pile of ribbons would be so fun to work as a jigsaw puzzle...and thankfully, the wonderful team at Jiggy agreed with me! (Yes, I styled and took this photo!)

It's packaged beautifully (would you expect anything less from PK?) and would make for a cute hostess gift...and don't forget the holidays! Working a puzzle is relaxing and fun and rewarding...and if you don't know that, you need to get into it! What's better than finding THAT PIECE?!?! IYKYK!

500 pieces; Finished puzzle is 16.5 x 22.5 inches.

10% of all net proceeds will go to Greenhouse17, an advocacy agency located in Kentucky committed to ending domestic abuse in families and communities. They provide individual and group support, emergency shelter, medical treatment, financial counseling and so much more. Women are also taught to grow fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs on a beautiful 40-acre farm that are made into candles, soaps and other body care items available for sale on their website.
